Subject: RE: Cover crop between corn rows

Looks interesting. I would bet most years the cover crop will run the corn short of water in drier climates.
It may work OK though. In 83, a very dry year. I planted corn into alfalfa. The landlord wanted it worked up with a chisel plow of sorts. It left the alfalfa in strips. The landlord also wouldn't allow much N or chemical to be applied.
The area with the alfalfa did better than most of the farm. I figured it was from the extra N from the alfalfa. Grandpa said that the alfalfa would bring up water and the corn would steal it.
