Subject: RE: Cover crop between corn rows

Effingham County IL
I have thought about it but there are two reasons I don’t. The first is that on my air seeder I can simply shut down every other gate at the meter as each gate runs two rows side by side. To run three rows together I would have to re-plumb some hoses. Second and maybe more importantly is that the strip till bar works ground 11-12 inches wide. The 22.5 inch gap shrinks to about 17-18 inches when the cover crops start branching out so that gives about 3 inches of leeway on either side. Even with RTK I want a couple inches of breathing room. If a person had a different strip-till bar or implement guidance they could probably get three rows together and make it work
