I have the row shutoffs stop at the headland row. I have thought about leaving a gap but it would probably be more trouble than it is worth. I would rather slightly over plant than have a gap where weeds could grow. The corn plants where the two rows meet seem to do alright and the corn head doesn't knock very much down.
