Brakes are important, most likely the master cylinder and wheel cylinders are rusty and pitted. If new ones don’t jump off the shelf at a reasonable price get the old ones bored and sleeved with brass or SS. Try white post restoration at wwwwhitepost.com they have done several for me and am quite happy with the work
