SC Iowa | Right or wrong I view physical gold as a currency. Like dollars in your pocket yields nothing and carries no counter party risk. Dollars can be created at will, gold must be mined to increase its supply. Gold and physical dollars have risk of theft, loss and physical harm to yourself. Gold like dollars can be vaulted and insured by someone else at a cost. You can also own a paper claim on gold as GLD or the like, but unless you are wealthy enough to own an allocated position won't be able to take delivery in time of a crisis. | |
