VT
We buy the ash from RMI, who is a third party who contracts with multiple regional wood-fired power plants to appropriately dispose of their ash. For instance, they won't sell it to you without a soil test showing low pH and a need for K. We spread it ourselves with a 30" chain litter/wet lime spreader, usually ~2.5-3T/ac. I've spread it with a 16" chain Chandler and that worked OK too. Like most bulk materials it spreads better if you don't let it sit out in a hurricane beforehand.
