The group that’s screaming the loudest on Ag talk about wanting government to intervene on market value right now is the cattle producers. As an outsider looking in, it would appear that the cattle market is the only market that is working. Cattle have a positive basis while hogs, corn and beans do not. The corn and bean markets are much more heavily used and usually involve delivery. Corn and bean futures markets are very different than the thinly traded/no delivery (rare) on board cattle futures. |
