| You need to read Gibson's book, "Pitch By Pitch," about that game. It is amazing what he remembers. Truly a fascinating story. He has an intriguing relationship with his catcher. Tim McCarver explained to Gibson that because he did not want to communicate with catchers, he never really knew what was coming. Gibsons said, "I thought all you did was catch the ball." McCarver responded, that there isn't a day that goes by that he isn't reminded of the beating Gibson gave him behind the plate. Gibson apologizes and says he simply never realized. It was heart-wrenching. | |
