Subject: Green grass and dirty butts

Granville County, NC
So it is that time of year here when the cattle are hitting good wheat, rye, and fescue pastures. Of course they get runny with the washy grass. I have always been told to put a bale of hay in with them and they will eat that to give them the fiber they need. Is it just me or my cattle...they won't touch the hay?. Don't stand behind on when the cough lol. I have not ever really noticed they lose condition in these circumstances, but I read they can actually lose weight? Any thoughts?
