Illinois | If you plan to feed in the same place every year try some screened lime. It will need to be put out and have several months to "set up" and should be 10+ inches thick but it will be cheaper and easier than concrete. We put on bags on a pad of screened lime and it has improved the situation greatly over the years. I will track manure out of the concrete lot onto it but I can still use the loader to scrape the lime pad clean. What I have learned is as soon as you are done with the pad for a while scrape it clean, add a little more where you need it and shape it so the water rolls off. It will take a few months to get rock solid again.
I would guess maybe 5 semiloads for 10 years for our two bags. I could snap a pic for you tomorrow if you want. | |
