Northern Nebraska
All I'm not a wheat grower just a lover of plants but I've read about the world record guys in New Zealand.

They say it's about heads per acre. They want 15 tiller heads per plant. A growth regulator to make sure all tiller heads are at the same growth stage as the primary. That prevents ergot and lights according to them. Another growth regulator to keep the wheat short. Three to five rounds of fungicide.
