N.E. MT | My great-great- grandfather Harry Rutter was featured in the book “We Pointed them North” written by Teddy “Blue” Abbott. I think? He made several trips from Texas to Montana but the one he most talked about was the trip with around 4800 head of horses from Mexico to North Dakota. Claiming they figured to have made it just short of 200 miles without finding good water. He wrote a lot of his trail drive memories down in an unfinished book called cow tails. It was never published but I have read it a couple times. Pretty interesting history | |
