SC Kansas | SC Kansas, we no till everything but corn and flowers. Strip till them mainly because of needing n in the ground. Lots of mulch because of covers. We are using nh3 and a shank machine. Would like to get away from running a shank for various reasons. Would also like to switch to liquid instead of nh3. The dilemma is getting n on without destroying cover and needing it in the ground. Like some kind of a strip to plant into because of warmer soils. Would a Dawn or similar machine be the best trade off? Should add a high percentage of irrigated acres, LOTS of residue. We do put n through the pivot, but need more down up front because it’s often to wet early to put it through the system. | |
