Subject: RE: Deere Parts Cost

Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
I think everyone's parts are overpriced. I thought Deere was pretty bad until I tried to get some Agco parts. That was just awful. I will do my best to never own an Agco product simply because of parts price and availability. Sometimes the good thing about Deere equipment is that everyone offers aftermarket parts for it because there's so much of it out there. The fact that you have aftermarket alternatives will keep the price down a little bit. I get a lot from Sloan and Shoup too. Some stuff is as good or better, some is lower quality, but it was cheap. I pretty much never buy bolts from Deere unless its included in a kit, bearings I shop for, sometimes Deere is inline, sometimes not, Coop 75 fluid hydraulic oil is always the cheapest around here, even in bulk. There's nothing special about Deere oil. I'm considering going to synthetic engine oil. We have too many drips and leaky implements for me to go synthetic on hy/tran oil. Batteries always come from Napa. Points, blades, and ground engaging parts always comes from Agri-Supply. For the most part, I like our Deere dealer, but he sure doesn't get all my business.
