Well, the way I see it back in the prehistoric times it was literally feast and famine, might be a pack yourself silly all you can eat buffet one day then slim pickings for the next couple days to a week later. I skipped a lot of meals this past spring and fall, must have had some effect because now I dont worry if I didnt bring much lunch with to work, even though I'm not really fasting at all now.
Normally I would gain some weight over winter, now I have either lost a little or stayed the same.
Age and genetics could play a big role in how quickly someone can adapt to changing metabolic demands.
