We had a dvd "stall" on us in a movie scene. The disk surface appeared clean enough and I didn't see any BIG scratches, but it re-occured.
We had that problem occur several times ... with one player.  We could take it in the kitchen and stick in the cheap (as in under $30) DVD player I got my wife last winter and it would work.  We replaced the DVD player and haven't had one lock up since.

We are big Netflix fans.   Not having cable or satellite and no ABC station nearby there are several shows we don't see.  While visiting our daughter my wife discovered a series she liked that we had never seen.  We just  loaded our Queue with it and every time she finished one sent it in and got the next in the series.  Went through the whole series that way.  Actually we have done it twice with 2 different shows.
