I can't actually remember the last time I used the CD/DVD drive especially on the laptop.
Time was anything new came with a CD for the drivers but now it is invariably a download, and often as not there is some way to download older programs too - but that obviously could be an issue - but that old version for Windows 7 or whatever might not work properly now anyway, so as soon as it was installed it would need an update.
