| When our Church burned about twenty years ago we didn't even find that much. Ours was a rural church, 800 people sanctuary, all wood frame building, 6 miles out of town. It was a cold January night with a 30 to 40 MPH north wind. A neighbor coming home from working the second sift in town saw flames through the basement windows at the north end of the basement. With the wind and the all wood building by the time the two different fire departments got there it was a lost cause. When we cleaned up, all we found that did not burn was a 2X6 about three feet long. What amazed me the most was the hymnals that were in the back of the pews, all fell down to the basement floor. They looked like you good pick them up but if you tried all you had in your hand were ashes. | |
