Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana | I only used it two years with HM corn, and then started putting dry corn in it.
I got good gains and was happy with the HM corn as far as feed conversion and gain...in the winter....but, in the summer it was a pain in the a$$.
In hot humid weather, I really needed to feed twice a day (I only fed once) because you could have a "smell" the next morning.
This was with 20-22% corn.
After doing that for two years I filled it with dry corn using a silage blower so it was cracked going in.....just ran it through a roller mill and had a horizontal mixer in the feed room.
It added another job in the fall, hauling from another farm out of a bin after drying, but it worked much better feeding the rest of the year. |
