My experience is that anytime you “upgrade” a Windows operating system, you’re asking for lots of pain. The best way to do it is:

1. Back up all of your data

2. Wipe the hard drive

3. Install the new version of Windows

4. Update Windows and install all of the drivers for hardware that might need it (although Windows 10 seems to have enough drivers on it’s own that it can make about anything work decent even if you don’t install drivers)

5. Install all of the software that you need like Microsoft Office and Quickbooks.

Doing it this way will make your computer feel 5 years younger than doing it the upgrade way.
