We raised one like that but putting 4"x6" rectangular tubing under it, still have the truck and probably raised it 10 years ago?

Yeah, that is my initial thought, only was going to use solid aluminum or steel plate, or a combo of the two like I said to raise it. I have been searching vanderhaags used stuff and have seen a few of their used fifth wheels they have for sale that have obviously been modified in the manner you say you did yours, so it obviously gets done.

Hadn't thought about the rec tubing, just cause i liked the idea of using solid plate,....

Don’t use something solid, it’s a waste of money and weight. Tubing is plenty good enough. We have a truck with a 3x6” rectangle tube riser. It has been running that way for 6 years or so now and shows no signs of weakness. That style of slider is cheap and easy to raise, don’t complicate it.
