We went from a 2188 to a 9660 several years ago. We went from driving 3.8-4 mph with a 8 row corn head to driving 5mph easy. Went from a 240 bu grain tank to a 400 bu which is fantastic. Went from a 2208 corn head which was a good head to a 608 non chopping head with hyd deck plates which is a must have in my opinion. We have the single point hook ups for the heads to the feederhouse. I DON"T miss crawling under the red heads to hook up the latches underneath. Our green combine unload is close to twice as fast as the red combine was. Not all green ones have that option though. The biggest difference is in the bean heads. If you do harvest beans, the job our 630 head does vs the 1020 30' we had is reason enough in my mine to trade colored combines. From reports I've heard, the 2000 and 3000 series red heads aren't the answer either. Spending double the $$$s for a draper is not in our budget. I would quit raising soybeans before I would go back to using a red conventional bean head. I've gone from hating bean harvest to kind of wishing we had a few hundred more bean acres to do each year. Did I say that I hate the red bean head???

We had a 1460, then a early 1680, then a early 2188 and now a 9660. I would say that there is virtually no difference in corn samples between all of them. The 1460 was a nice 6 row capacity machine. The 1680 and 2188 handled a 8 row head nicely. I don't think that our 9660 would handle a 12 head very well, but handles a 8 row head beautifully.

If you do soybeans, the straw chopper and the job it does in residue management is vastly superior to what the 2188 had. The 1460 and 2188 "didn't need them" according to IH.
