So now you are on the right track, fungicide doesn’t add bushels, it protects what is there.

With that being said the first step is evaluate your hybrid selections and see if they have shown a response to fungicides, the more race horse hybrids typically do, the more defensive hybrids don’t, typically. Next step is to identify the field(s) that could be in a high yield environment, if you have a field that has only 24,000 final stand with low fertility numbers, probably wouldn’t be the one i’d Apply fungicide to, unless a severe disease threat was to afflict this field.

On the other hand if you have a field with a race horse hybrid, with a good final stand for your area, with good fertility( enough groceries) that’d be the one i’d Target for a possible fungicide app.

Obviously if a major disease threat blows through, all fields should be scouted for severity, and treated as needed.
