Subject: RE: I have no idea what I'm doing (earlage/silage ration)

NC Indiana
This has been done for several years here now. We fed dairy steers for show on a modified version of the farm ration.

Grower ration of equal parts earlage and silage with gluten, hominy, hulls, and straw added.

Finish ration, drop the silage and up the earlage, gluten, and hominy, keep straw and hulls in.

equals - 1550-1600# finish steers at roughly 16.5 months.

Cattle look similar to these.

edit - calves on walking bar weighted 1390-1525 at time of picture. Manny - steer laying down (middle right steer on walking bar) weighed 1540 at state fair.
