For an almost 20 year old range would just go buy a new range and save the cost of a service call. My luck has usually been the appliance repairman will tell me to buy a new applicant and I have to cough his high fee and buy a new appliance.
Google the problem first, you might get lucky and find a cheap and easy fix you can do yourself, but if not go shopping.
