Subject: RE: Good work shoes?

West Union, Illinois

For summer wear I really like Bates side zip boot.   Easy on and off with the side zipper, light weight, cool in the summer, good ankle support, good traction.

There's just 2 problems with them.  They are terrible in wild oats, almost a magnet.  The seeds work though the mesh and poke like the devil.  The other problem is they are not made for wet conditions.  They are "police boots".  I guess cops don't walk in water.  My last pair fell apart after a few months.  I contacted Bates and they warranteed them.  However they also said this would be the last time because they aren't made for this use.  I have a pair in the box in the closet, but I'm not sure I'll buy them again.
