Subject: First time cover crop...

I would like to try 20# oats/5# radish mix on some of my pp corn acres. These acres will be going to soybeans in 2020. I want to plant the cover crop mixture with our Kinze 12/24 planter on 15" rows in early August. Can I plant with my existing soybean plates, assuming I purchase backing plates? Do I need to get half speed sprockets? I'm assuming I need to calibrate the planter starting at the slowest possible seed. Any advice or suggestions that might lessen the learning curve wound be greatly appreciated. Also, I would like to use 1/2# 2, 4-d in burn down prior to planting. How long would I have wait to plant after spraying?
