n.c.iowa | Heh,heh, been in several of the “big boy” plants and they don’t have any refrigerated storage except for research, and foundation seed. They do have climate controlled storage, where they can control humidity and temps.
I was in a dekalb plant not too long ago, and I asked the plant rep where there refrigerated storage was for the carryover seed, he just laughed and said, “be kinda fruitless to bring seed back and refrigerate it after some of it has spent almost 8 months out in the countryside”.
In Iowa very little of the pioneer treated seed goes to the landfill, I would suspect that they have similar arraignments nationwide. | |
