Watch the GPM on the battery units.

Helped a friend that did just as you described. But when the time came that he needed the battery unit it would not keep up after an hour and he ended up running a cord from a generator to the 120v pump.

This was about a year ago when, for some reason he went from never having water in the basement to wearing out two sump pumps in two months.
In fact the sump pump that was put in when his house was built in 95 was froze up from setting and never needing to come on. Then the water came!
