ESW ND | We raise our own carrot seed. That stuff will grow in the lawn. Carrots don't like tight soil. In the fall we cover the row with about 2 or so feet of oat or wheat straw. Dig some throughout the winter. Carrots seem to get sweeter the longer they are in the ground. Let the remainder grow. Bees, butterflies and spiders ( little white ones that really blend in with the blossoms) along with other little flower insects sure enjoy the cluster blooms. They smell nice too. Produces A LOT of seed. | |
