Subject: RE: Raising carrots

Concordia Parish La.
I only plant carrots in my fall garden, i grow in 4 x 16 ft. raised beds, i place 6 rows/drills the length of the bed, I place a drip tape beside each drill & keep the seed moist until I get a stand, when planting i strict a string where i want each drill, then just take a small stick to make a small trench about 3/8 in deep, place my carrot seed and just kind of dust the dirt over the seed, some don't even get covered, then I keep it moist until I see they are up, If U have not tried drip tape U should think about it, U only water what U want watered, I use the tape with 8 in. spacing, use a cheap timer, can set it and not have to remember to go shut off the water, about a hour of drip is all it takes in most case

Good Luck with your Carrots
