The companies that sell insurance do make a profit believe it or not. If corn is planted 2 weeks late with 85% coverage there will likely be a loss on that policy so no profit for insurance company. Its true that modifying the program wasn’t what the insurance companies signed up for. But the bulk of any claims will be paid through FCIC. Still, if penalties are waived, there would need to be a mechanism to reimburse insurance companies for the adverse selection placed upon them mid stream. |
