This link provides the rules and procedures associated with making and taking grain deliveries via a long or short futures contract. Keep in mind that the function of delivery mechanism is to create convergence between cash and futures. The delivery market is not viewed by the industry or the regulator as an origination market. The rules make that clear. In the most simplest explanation, a taker of delivery has very little if any ability to choose when, where, and how he gets conveyance of those bushels. Without knowing those details, one needs to have a pretty big book on to make the math work.
