S Illinois | I am not aware of any prediction on the silage acre split prior to or during the growing season, but the annual crop summary published in Jan has "corn for silage" broken out. Here is this past years. https://downloads.usda.library.cornell.edu/usda-esmis/files/k3569432... p. 12
At one time it seemed silage acres were more of a % of corn acres and would vary, but since we have pushed corn acres up to 90+million, they have settled into a more level acreage amount every year.
Edit: Looking at the silage breakdown it is easy to see where the large dairy production areas are: WI, NY, PA. It's not a very big deal, but another consideration is when those states with planting delays are not in the big silage areas, there is one less incentive to continue planting when the chopping for silage option is removed.
