Subject: RE: Spraying gramoxone for the first time / precautions needed

North Carolina
We have been using it for years, it is a very effective chemical. I just wished there was something that worked as good that wasn't a poison. If so, we would stop using it. Some recommendations that I would mention are:

1. Wear some green chemical gloves, eye protection and a splash apron for mixing, loading and repairs. Wash the gloves with clean water before you take them off. The PPE is fairly cheap to buy online.

2. Keep some clean water with you while using it for washing. If exposed, dilution is the solution.

3. Keep your mind in the game while handling the concentrate. It does splash real easy.

4. Take extra precautions to avoid drift. Watch wind speed, Lower pressure, lower boom height and big droplets.

5. Start out with all strainers being clean and ready so you do not have to handle the sprayer after loading the paraquat.

6. Avoid transporting a hot load down the highway.

7. Use extra precautions with your clothing in the home wash, especially if you have children.

Best wishes and stay safe.
