We had a cat that was indoor outdoor for 18 years. In the spring of the year it wasn't unusual for it to be gone up to 72 hours. Always assumed it was out "dating" buy never knew where it had been. Cats are very good at finding food (mice etc.). Assure the kids that it is probably ok for now. Will add the cat to our prayers for your family.
