This is interesting. Can a dairy keep themselves supplied for very cheap by this method? What about buying remotely, and having it shipped?

Not really a steady supply available. Might go several months without seeing any semen for sale.

As far as shipping, I've had a fair amount shipped in via UPS. In my case, the seller has always supplied the shipping container and I ship it back to them. Shipping cost was around $50 to cover it both ways. So if you are buying 50 units, that adds $1 to the cost of each unit.

Shipping is probably subsidized a bit by the list price. My mom has a semen sales business, and charges $50 for shipping orders $280-499 and free over $500, but smaller orders are charged actual cost which is between $100 and $150, depending on region. She has a few regular customers who know her volume discount system and shipping charges and make a large order every few years and get a couple hundred units shipped to their door for $5 per straw.
