Got into the grill yesterday and simply couldn't see any issues. cleaned stuff up since I had taken all the grates and stuff out so wasn't a total waste. Then I thought just maybe the replacement battery was simply bad. I switched it out with a rechargeable battery that I knew was charged and the igniter worked. So for the heck of it I put the other battery back in and lo and behold it worked too!  Weird. Not sure exactly what to think, but, I guess I won't complain.....

Glad it was a cheap easy fix. Sometimes new batteries have something on the contacts that prevents a good connection, for that reason I clean the ends with terry cloth or denim any time I remove or replace batteries.
