Sounds like a good plan. As far as the snake root I pasture around it all the time.
1st. Off never let your cattle get hungry ( problably 1st of August your problem would start. 2 it's easy to get read of 2-4 D kills it so start hand spraying it early. You can have it under control in a small a mount of time we walk 100 acres as we check cows take hand sprayer. 1 pasture 2-4D takes care of weeds. A blade or box scraper takes care of cow prints ( run lightly) throw some oats or teff as your dragging the pot holes in. Now you have good late pasture and hay if you want.
I do things cheap.
