From your description, I'm assuming your router is the WRT310N.

As you can see from the link, 22% of the people who reviewed that particular router off of Newegg gave it a 1 star rating, the worst rating possible. To contrast that the WRT54GL from the previous post I made had 1961 reviews of which 94% were either a 4 or 5 star rating and only 2% were a 1 star rating.

If this is indeed the router you bought, you can disregard my previous comment about shipping it to me. I would recommend returning it if at all possible and getting the WRT54GL I mentioned in the other post. Unless you really know why you need N networking, the WRT54GL is a proven router that appears to be significantly cheaper than the one you bought.
