Subject: River dynamics

S Illinois
Where does the Mississippi River widen or where do the major tributaries of the far northern Mississippi watershed enter the big river? Flooding from St Louis south isn’t usually affected much by snow melt :edit-by itself, has to have big rains to go with it. 1993 flood at St. Louis was a July/early Aug event). How far north will barge traffic be affected assuming a normal spring going forward? The lower Ohio is forecasted to go below flood late this coming week so going forward barge traffic should be getting back to normal on the lower Miss.

Just for reference the Mississippi River at St Louis at the beginning of flood stage is flowing around 515kcfs(currently forecasted for a minor flood as the western flood waters work downstream). It looks like the Missouri River at Omaha is currently flowing around 180kcfs.
