That subject always brings up lots of opinions for and against months before we get to experience it again but thought this article might be worth reading. Because of our geographic areas we put in the different time zones I do not think there is any real simple answer. Remember Eastern Time Zone encompasses an area fro Gaspe Quebec to west of Lake Superior gives 1 and a half hours difference in sunrise all in the same zone.

In an effort to avoid the biannual clock switch in spring and fall, some well-intended critics of DST have made the mistake of suggesting that the abolition of DST – and a return to permanent standard time – would benefit society. In other words, the U.S. would never “spring forward” or “fall back.” They are wrong. DST saves lives and energy and prevents crime. Not surprisingly, then, politicians in Washington, California and Florida are now proposing to move to DST year-round.
