Not a lot of us rural volunteer first responders have any equipment or training for water rescue. Like farmers do, we think quick and "farmer rig" a rescue sometimes. That may mean accepting help from anyone willing to volunteer their services. Scene safety is very important, but most of us are willing to risk a little extra to save a life.
