Subject: RE: Need opinions on Big Jim Silo unloaders

NEWI
We retrofitted our 20x90 harvestor with a Quantum Big Jim almost 20 years ago. Havent had lots of issues, just mostly normal wear n tear. However lots of glass broke off on outside of the panels from unloader “jumping” on frozen feed (was told Valmetal should not do that).
The ring drive coupler (lil plastic piece) broke and so unloader didnt spread feed out, but amp meter was reading right cause auger was turning.... put 2 loads on top of it.... unloader pulled top panel of silo in, 2 days of forking out feed to get to unloader, moved tripod and shes still going.

This unloader is great during the harvest season cause it only takes a few min to switch over and feed, BUT if I had the money..... would put up another Harvestore (or similar off brand).
We put up a 20x80 stave 2 yrs ago.... with a used unloader because the price was right. So not dedicated to Harvestors.
