Subject: RE: Dairy Cow for Bottle Calves

My experience is,it depends on the dairy cow......and the calf. My wife has 5 dairy pets and I can usually get 2 of them to take a twin from the beef herd. Takes a week of being penned up and a few trips to the chute. Dairy cow will give them a smell and give them a kick. A lot of work when your trying to look after the cattle yet to calve.

I don't have "dairy" experience but no way would I plan on any of my wife's taking more than one extra.

I tried last week with a set of twins on a dairy cow. I had more pressing work so I gave up.
