Oregon | Understood. My ‘grandpas herd’ comment relates to Charolais bull breeders having done a lot of work to lower BWs in the breed throughout the last few decades. Out of the few hundred purebred chars we calved last fall, our BWs ranged from around 70 to 84. Used the chains once on a heifer that probably shouldn’t have bred in the first place. These were out of medium framed range cattle. Not saying ALL char bull producers are going that way but it’s a direction we are certainly trying to go, along with several other NW char breeders. Thanks for the convo. | |
