Most remote ranches have someone that lives there all season, Mountain gov leases kick cattle out in the late spring and gather in the fall before cattle get snowed in. The private ground requires far less people to gather and is way quicker and less of the pucker factor, mountain ground here is similar to Russ's summer operation. Private ground you can gather in three days, mountain ground could be three weeks.
We have come to the conclusion in our area that pasture has outpriced a single use cattle operation and now you have to make money with hunting to stay in the black and have the land pay its own way.
