Madison Co. Virginia | Okay, I just did a little looking and answered my own question.
Phase 1(1956)--All green tractors-vertical steering wheel. Instead of medallion, has "JOHN DEERE" in chrome, on grill.
Phase 2(1957)--Yellow paint on hood, medallion on grill.
Phase 3(1958)--Slant steering wheel, except High Crop and LP fueled tractors.
Of our three 420's, we have a phase 1 420-T five speed, a phase 2 420-W four-speed, and a phase 3 420-T five-speed. Only the first of those three is running at the moment. The others wouldn't require much to get them running, but are awaiting a use.
I don't know about the waterloo tractors on that medallion vs script.
Edit to add: those three phases only apply to the 420's.
