You bet, Walmart pulls that trick all the time.
My wife occasionally will bake stuff for folks that are having a gathering(graduation,weddings, etc.). So someone was wanting her to make a few pans of brownies.

So we just happened to be at the local Wally World when the order came in so we went to the bakery section, and my wife goes to the end of the aisle that has the large sized bakery mixes, she grabs a box that held like 8 packets of brownie mix, puts it in her cart and continues on, well we had walked by the section where they had the single, or two packet boxes and I had noticed the price on them.

After a bit I was doing a little mental arithmetic, I said “hey, we gotta go back and look at something”. So back to bakery section we go.

As it turns out the “bulk” brownie mix was about $.50 higher a packet than the two packet/box brownie mix was. Those dirty dogs.
