Planting with tracks for years wouldn't want to go back. Two tracks vs four adds up over time.  I use 16 inch tracks. You can control the berming somewhat if you are careful when you turn but I haven't seen where the berming has affected the yield any.  I put a no-till coulter on the row unit that plants into the tracks when we plant beans and run those two rows a notch shallower. When the beans come up you can't tell where the tracks were.
